Mr. Mac's 6th Grade Social Studies class just finished their Pyramid Building Projects. The pyramids are now on display in the upstairs hallway in Tileston. The 6th graders' task was to build a model of an Egyptian pyramid, complete with the Pharaoh's body, clothing, weapons, furniture and jewelry inside the pyramid and to design a landscape on which to place their pyramids. The purpose of the project is to show how pyramids were designed to serve Egyptian pharaohs. All of the student projects are pictured - and the blue ribbon winner was Dante Jimeno. ... St. Mary School hosted it's Annual Donor Recognition Reception on Thursday, February 16th to express our gratitude to the many donors who generously support the school throughout the year.
In addition to the dedication of the new Wilkins Science Center, the guests were welcomed by a student violin ensemble led by Dr. Clark Spencer. They were treated to a scene directed by Mrs. Tracy Cordon in the Theater Arts Class called THE BIG LIE and performed incredibly well by 8th grade students Abby Billings and Michelle Breit. The student performance finale was an energetic performance by the 4/5 Chorus, directed by Mr. Steve Williams - a song from GREASE, We Go Together!

The preschool and elementary homerooms, Art, Spanish and middle school science and technology classes displayed projects for the event.
Below is a copy of the plaque that will be placed in the new Science Lab recognizing the many donors who contributed to the project. Note: these's a few empty elements still available!

More than 60 guests were recognized for their generosity and support of the school in 2016. Mrs. Price outlined the need for their continued support and spoke of the many resources currently in place to assist families with tuition assistance including the NC State Opportunity Scholarships and diocesan assistance.

The celebration acknowledged all of the generous donors who purchased "elements" to help fund the new Science Lab, the Eshelman Foundation for their grant to the project and the hard work of the "team" responsible for the design and construction of the lab: Mrs. Karen Brown, Mr. John Wojechowski and Mr. Tommy Rogers.

A permanent plaque was unveiled for the St. Mary School-Wilkins Science Center named in honor of its major donors, Rick & Beverly Wilkins.

The St. Mary Catholic School

St. Mary Catholic School is dedicated to a total education program in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Simply stated, our school philosophy is that every facet of life is important: Spiritual, Physical, Educational, and Emotional.

The faculty and staff strive to instill Christian values so that each student becomes a force of good in God’s world. At the same time, the educational program leads and encourages students to develop their intellect to its full potential.

St. Mary Catholic School’s graduates are prepared to enroll in the honors courses offered by area high schools. The school’s emphasis is on preparing students to be independent learners who maintain high academic achievements and standards throughout their high school and college years.

St. Mary Catholic School is  first Catholic school in North Carolina. The school was established in 1869.
