"My mother didn't have a lot of
money, and I know it was a struggle for her to send me
to St. Mary. Words cannot express how grateful I
am...St. Mary laid the foundation for me to tackle
difficult decisions and situations with ease."
JASMYNNE-SHAY ROBBINS,
St. Mary Alum, 1981-1990

GROW
spiritually |
|
|
The oldest Catholic school in North Carolinas. St. Mary
has provided quality education since 1869. In addition
to our challenging academic curriculum, we immerse our
students in an atmosphere that's steeped in tradition
and defined by Catholic Christian values. Students
attend weekly Mass, are instructed in the precepts of
the Catholic faith, and practice the Christian call to
service. They leave St. Mary prepared to live in a
challenging world as self-directed, caring, God-loving
responsible citizens. |
|
Create tomorrow's church leaders. Instill faith in the
heart of a child. |
|
BELONG
to a community |
|
| At. St. Mary, we are
truly a community within a community. The close-knit
family atmosphere and small student body make it
possible for each student to develop individually, while
forging strong bonds with peers and faculty alike. Our
location in downtown Wilmington gives our students
unparalleled, first-hand access to historic and cultural
opportunities. Through community service, the arts and
athletics, our students engage in activities that
connect them with the world outside St. Mary's walls. |
| Become a part of our
family. Invest in the future of our community. |
|
CHALLENGE
yourself |
|
| In order to be the best,
our students need the best-from teachers to facilities
to supplies. To keep in step with the national emphasis
on science and mathematics, we must develop a modern
Science Lab, invest in up-to-date technology, and hire
new faculty. We want to offer two classes per grade, an
expansion that's only gone as far as K-2 due to lack of
space. Reaching our goal depends on successful
classroom restoration in the historic Tileston building. |
| Help our family
grow. Lay the foundation for academic success. |
|
ENRICH
the lives of others |
|
| We believe that our
lives are only as rich as what we give to others...a
lesson that we instill in each of the students at St.
Mary School. Our students embody the Catholic precept
of service by donating food to the Tileston Social
Ministry's pantry, making Thanksgiving baskets for those
less fortunate, adopting families at Christmas,
mentoring each other, performing at area nursing homes,
carrying out a book drive for Home of Hope, a Catholic
school for orphan girls in India... and so much more. |
| Cultivate a sense of
social responsibility. Nourish the spirit of giving. |

"St. Mary instilled in me a sense
of humility, respect, honesty and work ethic that I am
now very thankful for."
