Dear St. Mary School Families,
I want to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with hopes that you can share some quality time with friends and family and also take a much needed break from the regular daily routines. I thank God for good health and the privilege of serving the faculty, students, and families of this wonderful school.
Thanksgiving Outreach – Thank you to all who sent in food for the Thanksgiving baskets. Together our school family is providing full Thanksgiving dinners for 12 families. Phil and Juan have just finished delivering all the food to Sr. Isaac’s Ministry where it will be given out to the families later this morning. The baskets were overflowing with goodies.
Catholic Charities – We are attaching the thank you letter from our local office. This is just another reminder to me about how fortunate we were during Hurricane Matthew and how generous our school community is when others are in need.
Book Fair News – We thank Mr. Hogan for heading up the Book Fair last week and all the families who supported the Fair. The total sales were $4,242.37! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who assisted Mr. Hogan. This Fair also earned us 2,000 Scholastic bonus $$$/points to spend on new titles for our library along with new e-book selections.
Sr. Isaac – Our school will offer our thanks and well wishes to Sr. Isaac after Mass on Friday, Dec. 16th. As our school mission speaks to the importance of Faith, Academics, and Service, Sr. Isaac’s Ministry has made it easy for the faculty, students, and families to witness service to those in need and more than that, take an active role in that service. As a gift to her and the Sisters of St. Ursula, we are asking for monetary donations in order to purchase a tree to be planted outside of their chapel at the Mother House in Rhinebeck, New York. If you would like to contribute to that gift, please send in your donations marked Sr. Isaac by December 9th. Checks should be made to St. Mary School.
DAR Essay Contest – Congratulations to Michelle Breit (8th) for winning this award!
Science Lab News – As we have recently reported, the lab is almost ready for occupancy. Mrs. Brown will be moving in at the end of December and will begin classes there after our Christmas break. This space will also be used by our other teachers of Science throughout the grade levels. We are so excited! Today, we received a grant from the Eschelman Foundation for the Science Lab along with other individual donations. Our major funding is being provided by a gift from Mr. Rick Wilkins. We can’t wait to see the smiling faces of our young scientists as they work in this beautiful new space.
