Boys’ Tennis Team – Even though there is still a chill in the air, and Mr. Winter will not let go just yet, we will be starting our spring boys’ tennis team soon. Our team will consist of boys in grades 6-8 and will be coached by Mrs. Moore, assisted by Mrs. Blue. If there are any more boys who would like to participate on the team, please see Mrs. Moore or Mrs. Blue, or contact me.

Basketball News – Our girls’ and boys’ basketball programs have come to an end. All of our teams displayed great sportsmanship and team play. We concluded the season with a mini-tournament for our developmental team. The boys show tremendous talent which means a great future for our program.

New! – A girls’ volleyball team and a coed basketball team for grades 5-8 are planned for the future. Practices will take place on Mondays (basketball) and Thursdays (volleyball) after school from 3:15 to 4:30.  I will announce the start in future newsletters.

Golf Outing – It is just one week away! On March 8th we will be holding our 3rd Annual Golf Outing at Cape Fear National in Brunswick Forest. If you would still like to enter a team, please get in touch with JoAnn Daley or me by Monday at the latest. I have asked our student athletes to come out and help during the event, wearing their team uniform. I would like everyone there to see our young athletes helping and supporting their athletic program. If your son or daughter would like to help, please get in touch.

Fall Sports – Even though I mentioned earlier that we are about to start our spring sports, I would like to remind everyone of our FALL Team Sports.  We have two girls’ programs in the fall: volleyball and tennis. Volleyball will start in August, and tennis will start when school begins. Both programs are open to girls in grades 6-8. Our third athletic team is our new cross- country program. This was a huge success this past season and we are hoping to have it grow in the fall. The cross-country program is for girls and boys in grades 5-8. In order to participate in any of our athletic programs, participants are required to have a sports physical. Forms for sports physicals, parent permission forms, and travel permission forms (allowing athletes to travel in a parent’s car) must be turned in. These forms will be available at the end of the school year.

Athletic Banquet – The Annual Athletic Awards Dinner will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014, in the Upper Room. Information will be sent home and will be posted on the Booster Facebook page in the near future.
