FALL TEAMS UPDATE: Our two fall programs, Girls’ Volleyball and Coed Cross Country, are in full swing and looking great. Our Coed Cross Country team is gearing up for another team/individual race next week. Our coaches have the team members running and training hard in order to bring their personal best times down to an even more competitive level. Our team is planning to host a Cross Country race in October at Wallace Park, located across from Port City Java on College Road. When the details are complete, I will let you know. Please come out to cheer along our great young runners.
Our exciting Volleyball team shows improvement from day to day. Each match has been close, and today the team pulled out a win by defeating WCA in 3 games. What a great team win for all! Great job, Coach Angie. The girls played like a real team today. The girls play home again next Tuesday with the younger girls playing at 4:00 pm and the older girls following. Come out and show some Falcon School Spirit and give our girls some support.
“LIVELY” THE MASCOT FALCON: “Lively” has been sitting upstairs in the concession stand wanting to come out and support our teams. He just needs someone to bring him to life. If we have anyone who would like to help “Lively” flap his wings and show some school spirit, contact me so we can work it out. Trust me, he won’t bite.
ROLL THE TAPE: I am considering the purchase of a video camera and TV for the gym. We will video the games from the bleachers and show them live to parents and fans in the concession stand. What I need is an adult who will take on the job of operating the video camera from upstairs. If you would like to be our camera person, please get in touch with me. There needs to be a volunteer in place before we make the purchase.
LOOKING FOR SOME HELP: We are considering the installation of insulation in the gym rafters in order to bring down the temperature. If you know of a company that will blow insulation into the rafters, please contact me. Looking forward, we will then be able to consider an air conditioning system for the gym. If you know of anyone who would like to chat with me about this large project, please have them give me a call.
GOLF MEETING: Just a reminder – there are two meetings scheduled for Wednesday, September 27 (2:00 pm and 6:00 pm), in the gym. We will discuss ways to make our Golf Classic fundraiser a success. There will be materials describing what we have done in the past and how best to move forward. Please go to the SignUp Genius and sign up so I know who will be attending and others who can’t make the meetings, but would like to help. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b054baaac2ea46-first
BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: On Wednesdays, from 5:30 to 6:30, boys in grades 6 – 8 will have an “open gym.” This gives the boys an opportunity to practice their skills and prepare themselves for the season ahead. We need at least 10 enthusiastic and energetic boys, and at least 8 enthusiastic and energetic girls to make up our basketball teams this season. Please come out and represent our school. Show your outstanding Falcon Spirit and compete! Let’s fill the gym with cheers and Falcon Pride. Let’s go after the title we just missed last year. Parents, please let me know if your son or daughter will play for our school this winter.
CHEERLEADING COACH: There must be someone out there who would like to help our cheerleaders. The girls are eager to inspire the crowd with team spirit. They need someone to guide them and to help them practice. Please?
